Health is a Choice

Dietary and Lifestyle Habits

Life is a Gift, and health is a Choice—it seems simple enough, but it also reflects the simplicity and complexity associated with the life we have been gifted.

As with all gifts, what we choose to do with the gift reflects our appreciation and value. The choices we make in our lives either add value to that gift or sometimes force us to deal with the consequences of our choices.

Health is a Choice, simple and obvious, and yet sometimes it is hard to understand why we make some choices. But remember, every health choice you make carries a significant weight and can profoundly impact your life.

I, more than many, understand this, given that I have spent over 30 years fighting significant physical and mental health issues that have prevented me from being the father and husband I could have been. I’ve had to make tough choices about my health, and I know how challenging it can be.

Adding to this complex area of health, research shows that the great majority don’t make choices about their health; they allow their subconscious mind to navigate their options. Understanding this can help you become more aware and conscious of your health decisions. The subconscious mind is crucial in navigating health-related choices, often operating beneath our conscious awareness. It processes vast amounts of information, drawing on past experiences,  ingrained beliefs, and emotional associations to influence our decisions.

Health is a Choice

This hidden mental realm, the subconscious, plays a significant role in shaping our perceptions of health-related situations. It can trigger automatic responses to stress,  filter information for relevance, and, thus, guide our understanding of health-related issues.

It’s important to note that the subconscious, while powerful, can also perpetuate limiting beliefs or unhealthy patterns. These can act as barriers to well-being, underscoring the need to reprogram our subconscious for healthier choices actively.

By acknowledging the significant influence of the subconscious and actively engaging in its reprogramming through techniques like positive affirmations, visualisation, and mindfulness, we can take control of our health decisions. This can lead to more beneficial choices and behaviours, ultimately improving our well-being.
